Making a Quick And Easy Brush On Silicone Halloween Mask

Professional mask makers will spend days crafting an elaborate and highly detailed silicone mask and then sell it for hundreds or even thousands of dollars to film makers, collectors, etc.

Here's an easy way to make a mask using skin-safe Dragon Skin Q that takes only a few hours to create but can be every bit almost as scary cool as masks created in days. A thin skin of silicone is brushed in layers onto a head form, resulting in a very stretchy, creepy silicone mask which is skin safe and goes on and off easily. When you wear it, mask will bend and flex with your expressions. Your imagination is your only limit in designing your own custom mask!

You will need the following materials:
   * Styrofoam Wig Head
   * Large Piece Of Spandex Or Other Stretchy Fabric
   * Base Board (Melamine board is recommended)
   * Glue Gun
   * Disposable Brushes
   * Measuring/Mixing Containers
   * Mixing Sticks
   * Scissors
   * Dragon Skin Q Silicone
   * Silc-Pig Pigments
   * Thi-Vex Silicone Thickener

NOTE: In advance, cut the fabric into a 12 inch by 5 inch (30cm by 13cm) strip.

7 - Allow this first layer of silicone to fully cure for 75 minutes.

8 - Mix a batch of Dragon Skin® Q with Silc-Pig® BLOOD and add a few drops of Thi-Vex® thickener.

9 - Apply some of the silicone along the edges of the fabric.

10 - Use the rest of the thickened mixture to build up facial details.

11 - After the second coat cures, apply another thin layer, pigmented using Silc-Pig® pigments.

12 - After the third layer cures, stipple a final pigmented layer of Dragon Skin® Q to appear as skin.

13 - Use a small amount of additional Dragon Skin® Q with Silc-Pig® black pigment to apply shadows.

14 - Use a small amount of Dragon Skin® Q silicone with Silc-Pig® black to apply 'zombie blood'.
 Gallery Image

15 - The mask is complete and is allowed to cure for at least 75 minutes.
 Gallery Image

16 - A sharp knife is used to cut and remove the flashing around the bottom of the mask neck.
 Gallery Image

17 - The mask is carefully removed from the wig form.
 Gallery Image

18 - While the mask is inside out, the eyes, nostrils and mouth areas are cut out.
 Gallery Image

19 - The mask is turned right-side-out and is now ready to wear.

20 - Fit the mask on your model, making sure that they can see and breathe without difficulty.

21 - A small amount of makeup is applied around the eyes to complete the look.
