Restoring a 300 Year Old Plaster Frame Using Mold Max® 10
Mold Max® silicones (10A-40A) feature high tear strength and are great for production
casting of resins, plasters, etc. In this example, a plaster frame is reproduced using
Mold Max® 10 silicone. Mold Max 10 is the softest of the Mold Max series
rubbers.
When using a silicone rubber, it is not necessary to use a release agent, so the surface
of the antique frame is not affected. The softness of the Mold Max 10 also allows it to
stretch around the deep undercuts of this highly carved antique.
Mold Max® 10 is mixed, vacuumed, then poured over the plaster original
After an overnight cure, the silicone is demolded.
