Restoring a 300 Year Old Plaster Frame Using Mold Max® 10
Mold Max® silicones (10A-40A) feature high tear strength and are great for production casting of resins, plasters, etc. In this example, a plaster frame is reproduced using Mold Max® 10 silicone. Mold Max® 10 is the softest of the Mold Max® series rubbers.
When using a silicone rubber, it is not necessary to use a release agent, so the surface of the antique frame is not affected. The softness of the Mold Max® 10 also allows it to stretch around the deep undercuts of this highly carved antique.
Mold Max® 10 is mixed, vacuumed, then poured over the plaster original
After an overnight cure, the silicone is demolded.
