It's easy and fun to make a lifecast of anyone's hand!
Just follow the simple step-by-step lifecasting guide below, and you will have a perfect
lifecasting which will "freeze time" and create a long lasting memento.
- Decide how you want your finished casting to look, and hold that pose.
- Measure Alja-SafeŽ powder and water in equal amounts by volume. Ideal water temperature is 80F / 27C
- Add Alja-SafeŽ powder to water. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Pour Alja-SafeŽ molding gel into the container.
- To minimize air bubbles in the finished mold, rinse hand with before immersing into the Alja-SafeŽ
- Slowly immerse posed hand into Alja-SafeŽ. Make sure not to touch sides or bottom of container.
- Alja-SafeŽ will set in 8-10 minutes. Gently wiggle fingers and slowly remove hand from mold.
- The mold is ready for casting.
- Measure 2 equal parts plaster powder to 1 equal part water by volume.
- Pour water into mixing container and slowly add plaster powder, allowing it to soak for 2 minutes.
- Mix plaster and water until mixture is creamy (approx. 4 minutes)
- Fill mold halfway with plaster and rotate mold gently in all directions to minimize air bubbles.
- Allow plater to cure for a minimum of 3 hours.
- Score mold in a grid pattern with a plastic knife.
- Carefully remove Alja-safe from the plaster hand by peeling it away.
- The casting reflects perfect detail and may be painted or clear coated to finish.
- Options for what you can create include choosing different positions for your fingers...
