Using Encapso® K To Create a Cereal Prop

An ad agency charged with creating print advertising for one of their cereal clients was having a problem with the cereal and milk deteriorating under the heat of the set lights. Specifically, as the photo shoot progressed, the cereal was absorbing the milk and looking soggy. In addition, the hot lights were causing the milk to sour quickly, creating an odor problem in the photo studio. After preparing and discarding over 30 bowls of cereal over two days, they contacted Smooth-On for a material solution.

Encapso® K to the rescue!

To simulate the milk, Encapso K was color pigmented with Silc-Pig® White silicone pigment and poured over the cereal and a spoon. Encapso K was poured slowly over the cereal with care being taken to try and coat each individual piece of cereal.
