Mannequin display manufacturer Bermann Display approached Smooth-On with a request for a new plastic that could be used to make hollow (roto-cast) figures for use in major department stores. The problem this company was encountering was returns of broken mannequins from the stores. "Invariably our clients will drop our mannequins down a flight of steps by accident, and these figures were breaking. Then they send them back to us for repair, which is a big drag on our operation" says owner Howard Bermann. Mr. Bermann continued "I need a plastic that can handle the 'drop down a flight of steps' test."
