SONY Electronics - Camera Division wanted to make the launch of their high performance Alpha Digital Camera spectacular.  As part of their marketing and promotion effort, SONY charged Colbar Art in Long Island City, NY with coming up with a physical representation of the Alpha that would maximize visual impact.  SONY wanted 200 display pieces to help launch the model at trade shows, press conferences, and to use in promotional literature, etc. 

Colbar used Smooth-On silicone rubber to make the molds. Crystal Clear 220 clear casting resin was then mixed and poured into the molds.  The molds were then placed into a pressure vessel, heated and pressurized to 60 PSI to eliminate bubbles in the finished castings. 

SONY representatives were absolutely thrilled with the outcome and used the cast pieces for months to successfully promote the new camera design.  www.colbarart.com
