20-136 Castable Epoxy (with Sonite® 16 hardener) was used to cast an electric guitar body for its durability and high heat resistance. Geoff Houser of the rock band "Eighteenth Hour" in Bethlehem, PA wanted a guitar that could take a beating and also look great. He cast 20-136 castable epoxy into a Mold Max® silicone rubber mold, allowed it to cure and then post cured it. He then took it to a local company that did powder coating which involves subjecting the casting to 350°F/177°C to get the finish to adhere to the epoxy.
The result; a finish that looks spectacular and durability that won't shatter as many of his previous guitars have. Added bonus; the guitar resonates sound unlike anything he has experienced. He has since cast several guitars in different configurations for friends as well as himself using 20-136 castable epoxy and Sonite® 16 hardener. www.eighteenthhour.com
