| Smooth-On, Inc. of Easton, PA. announces the acquisition of Renew Materials based in Far Hills, New Jersey as of September 1, 2008. Renew manufactures a variety of materials including liquid RTV silicone and urethane rubbers, silicone and urethane foams and other materials used for fabricating custom and stock prosthetic and orthotic devices. Smooth-On manufactures similar materials on a much broader and larger scale. Renew manufacturing /administrative operations and personnel will be moved to Smooth-On's facility in Easton. Smooth-On Vice President, Clay Western, states that, "The acquisition makes sense on several levels as there is a definite synergy between Renew and Smooth-On. The addition of Renew Materials to the Smooth-On family of companies brings manufacturing and operational economies of scale. The Renew line is compatible with our core business and gives us an increased presence in the O&P market." |
