Technical Assistance Policy

Our technical service department handles many calls and emails every day. Technical help is a free service from Smooth-On, Inc. to support end-users of our rubbers, plastics, foams, and other materials in reaching their project goals. Every Smooth-On technician has hands-on experience with these materials across a wide range of applications, and is here to help you succeed.

We want to be clear about what that help looks like, so you know what to expect. When you tell us about your project, we'll recommend the material or combination of materials we believe will best meet your objectives. That guidance is exactly what our technicians are here to provide.

What we can't do is guarantee that a given product will work for your specific application, and the reason is straightforward: success depends on a lot of factors beyond the material itself. Project complexity, working conditions and environment, and the techniques used all shape the outcome, and those are things we have no control over. Because no two applications are quite the same, we recommend running a small test whenever performance is in question. Ultimately, you are in the best position to determine whether a product suits your intended application, and that decision and its associated risks rest with you.

First projects don't always come out perfectly, and that's normal. More often than not it comes down to process rather than the material, which is good news, because process is something you can learn and improve. Smooth-On stands behind the quality of every material you buy, and we want to help you get the most out of it.

Your best path to a great result is simple: read the technical bulletin for your product and follow the directions carefully. We want you to succeed every time, and these resources are built to get you there.
